A New Cultural Landmark: Jezet at Te Paepae Theatre
A significant addition to Auckland's architectural landscape, the New Zealand International Convention Centre brings together contemporary architecture, cultural identity and considered design.
Located in the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) marks a new chapter for the city's cultural and events landscape. Designed by Warren and Mahoney in association with Moller Architects and Woods Bagot, the landmark development brings together architecture, art and innovation to create a destination for connection and shared experiences.
More than a conventional events venue, the NZICC has been conceived as a place that celebrates the cultural identity of Aotearoa New Zealand. From its striking architectural form to the integration of public artworks, the building reflects a thoughtful approach to creating spaces that are both functional and meaningful.
A Theatre Designed for Flexibility
At the heart of the development is Te Paepae Theatre, a versatile performance and event space designed to accommodate everything from international conferences and presentations to live performances and cultural gatherings.
With a capacity of 2,852 guests, the theatre has been designed with adaptability in mind. Its combination of fixed and retractable seating allows the space to transition between different configurations, responding to the changing needs of contemporary events.
An integral part of this design is the Livio seating system by Jezet, represented in Australasia by KFive.
Combining comfort, functionality and a considered aesthetic, the seating contributes to the theatre's architectural vision while supporting the flexibility required of a large-scale public venue.
The result is a space where architecture and design work together, creating an environment that can evolve with the people and experiences it accommodates.
A New Chapter for Auckland
Since opening in February 2026, the NZICC has established a new destination for cultural exchange, international events and shared experiences, contributing to Auckland's evolving architectural identity.
Projects of this scale demonstrate the importance of collaboration between architects, designers and specialist manufacturers, where every element plays a role in shaping the overall experience.
KFive is proud to have worked alongside Jezet on this significant project, contributing to a new cultural landmark that will bring people together for years to come.
