Honouring Community Through Design

K5 Furniture is proud to be a partner for the 2025 AIA VIC Chapter Awards, supporting the Interior Architecture category that honours design excellence in public and private interiors across Victoria.

We are thrilled to see Hume Global Learning Centre Refurbishment by Architecture Associates shortlisted in this category. The project breathes new life into an existing civic building, reimagining it as a welcoming, multi-functional space for community gathering, learning, and council operations.

As described by Architecture Associates co-founder Sam Hunter,

“Our design agenda was to balance the formal requirements of a 'Council Meeting' with the informality of everyday community gathering...an architectural attitude towards civic dignity, steeped in history and simultaneously forward-looking to reflect the vibrancy of a contemporary, evolving community.”

K5 was honoured to contribute to this civic vision through the thoughtful curation of furniture pieces that support both formality and flexibility. The project features:
Skandiform Dropp Easy Armchairs
Segis Stamp Stacking Stools and Easy Boy Tables
Reaction Executive High-Back Task Chairs

These selections help anchor the dynamic functionality of the space—supporting accessibility, movement, and moments of quiet focus or collective dialogue.

As co-founder Danielle Peck adds,

“We are so pleased that this project has been recognised as it reflects a bold vision from our client City of Hume...to advocate for such an open and visible space—it really does welcome and encourage everyone to participate.”

Congratulations to Architecture Associates and all shortlisted projects shaping more inclusive, human-centred civic design across Victoria.
